City Elections

Municipal elections for the positions of Mayor and City Council are generally held on even-numbered years.

Qualifications for Candidates

  • Must be at least 25 years old
  • Must have been a resident of Midwest City for at least 1 year
  • Must be a resident of the ward from which they are elected at the time of election

Terms

The terms of Mayor and Councilmembers shall begin at 7:30 p.m. on the first Monday after the time prescribed for the general election and continue for 4 years therafter.

The next municipal election will be held in 2014 for the Mayor and council seats in Wards 1, 3, and 5.  These are non-partisan elections.  The positions are for a term of four years.  

If more than one candidate applies in any ward, a primary election for that (those) ward(s) will be held in 2014. If more than two candidates apply for any ward and any one of those candidates does not receive more than 50% of the total vote, a general election for those ward(s) will also be held in 2014.

Campaign reporting forms and manuals can be obtained from the Oklahoma Ethics Commission website at www.ok.gov/oec. All forms for local elections are to be filed with the City Clerk.
