The next municipal election will be held in 2012 for council seats iin Wards 2, 4 and 6. These are non-partisan elections. The positions are for a term of four years. All registered voters living in these wards may vote in this election.
The filing period will be open for the next election from December 12-14, 2011. Registered voters may apply at the Oklahoma County Election Board, 4201 N. Lincoln Blvd, Oklahoma City, between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You may call 713.1515 for additional information.
If more than one candidate applies in any ward, a primary election for that (those) ward(s) will be held on February 14, 2012.
If more than two candidates apply for any ward and any one of those candidates does not receive more than 50% of the total vote, a general election for those ward(s) will be held on April 3, 2011.
Qualifications for candidates:
- Must be at least 25 years of age
- Must have been a resident of Midwest City for at least 1 year
- Must be a resident of the ward for which they are elected at the time of the election
