The Current Planning Division is responsible for overseeing the residential and commercial development within Midwest City. In many ways, we are the starting point for all development. Whenever you get ready to build that new home, fence, carport, storage building, room addition, office/commercial structure, sign, etc., you or your general contractor need to visit with us to obtain the necessary permits. Sometimes, even the remodeling of your residence or office requires a permit as well.
Our department is also the point of contact for zoning information and requests to change the zoning of property, as well as the subdivision or the platting of property. A request for rezoning, subdivision and platting all requires a public hearing before the Planning Commission and City Council.
