Fire Department Public Education

The Public Education Division of the fire department is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating life safety programs. This office administers ten programs.  

Learn Not to Burn Fire safety awareness program for preschool and kindergarten
Operation FireSAFE Juvenile fire setter intervention (4 to 15 yrs.)
Child Passenger Safety Child restraint and car seat education for parents and caregivers
Risk Watch Unintentional injury prevention program for K through 8th grades
Fifth grade science Fire behavior and fire prevention around the house
Cooking and home safety Junior high and High school home economics
Remembering When Fall and fire prevention for older adults
Save-a-Life Free smoke alarm installation to qualifying citizens
CPR Junior high and general public
Storm Shelter Registry Storm shelter owners in city limits

Mission Statement

The Midwest City Fire Department is charged with the responsibility of reducing risks to lives, property, and the environment from man-made and natural disasters, to the lowest extent possible through the effective use of all resources made available.

The Midwest City Fire Department shall strive to achieve this mission by; responding to and mitigating emergency incidents, preparing for emergency situations that may be anticipated to occur, reducing the risk within our jurisdiction by preventative measures against the outbreak of fires and other emergencies, limiting the extent and severity of such emergencies through risk reduction and built-in control measures, providing for the treatment, removal and rescue of injured and/or endangered persons, and to control emergencies that occur.
