Household Hazardous Waste Fact Sheet

The following information is regarding the disposal of household hazardous waste in Midwest City.

Items delivered for disposal must be in original containers or correctly labeled and identified and in a suitable substitute container.

Acceptable Items:

 Acids, Bases and Corrosives  Aerosol cans
 Antifreeze  Batteries - all sizes and types
 Fertilizers and Oxidizers  Flammable solids and liquids
 Fluorescent bulbs and Mercury
or items containing Mercury
 Household cleaners & Degreasers
 Propane tanks - small aerosol size tanks      Paint and Paint related materials
 Pesticides, Herbicides, Fungicides      Printer cartridges
 Used oil and oil filters  
   

Unacceptable Items:

 Air conditioners                                                   Appliances
 Ammunition or explosives  Asbestos related materials
 Biological or medical waste  Pharmaceuticals or medications
 Radioactive waste                                                Tires or drums regardless of their content


Caution!
Items must be transported in such a manner to prevent spilling.  If necessary you may line a cardboard box with a plastic bag, but DO NOT place items in plastic bag that is not supported by a box.

Reuse Program: Many items are received in good,, usable condition.  These items are available for free to residents of MWC or other cities that have agreements with MWC.  All items received through this program must be for personal or non-profit use.

 


Disposal of HHW is free to MWC residents.  To schedule an appointment to drop off items, call 739.1049.  Items are received on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  A valid driver's license and current MWC utility bill must be presented to the attendant before items can be accepted.
