The Learn Not to Burn Preschool program is a practical pilot-tested and evaluated program to teach fire safety awareness and skills to children in a child care center. A pretest and posttest evaluation of four of the lessons indicated a 37% increase in knowledge.
The Learn Not to Burn Preschool Program contains these unique features:
-Identification of eight key fire safety behaviors for children age 3-5.
-Emphasis on specific fire safety knowledge and actions for children to learn.
-Detailed lesson plans for each of the eight fire safety behaviors.
-Song lesson plans for each fire safety behavior to use with the accompanying cassette tape.
-Additional learning/play activities to reinforce the lesson plans.
-Illustrations that can be copied for posters, coloring, and other activities.
