The Midwest City Fire Department, along with Safe Kids Oklahoma, is sponsoring a car seat check-up event on Saturday, March 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Fire Administration building, 8201 E. Reno Ave.
According to Chief Randy Olsen this event is held for the purpose of training parents on the proper way to install or use car seats. Olsen stated that statistics show that 4 out of 5 car seats are either installed or used incorrectly.
During this event child care-givers will be instructed by Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians on how to properly secure your child in the seats. Also, attendees will have the opportunity to ask the technicians questions on how to properly install the seats and place the children safely in them.
In addition, a limited number of car seats will be available for eligible families, while seats last. For $10 cash and proof of government aid, such as food stamps, WIC, Medicaid, etc. attendees may be eligible for a seat. Early arrival is suggested.
