After years of dreaming about a city dog park, this summer Midwest City will have just that. There has been uncertainty as to what the name of the park will be, but after a recent City Council meeting, the dog park finally received its name. The Fred Quinn Happy Tails Dog Park will be a lovely place for Midwest City residents and pets to enjoy for years to come.
The park is being named after Fred Quinn, a long-time Midwest City resident, passionate dog lover and owner of Quinn and Associates architectural company. Quinn worked alongside with the Midwest City Dog Park Committee to design a state-of-the-art canine park. As well as the park, Quinn has designed about 90% of Midwest City’s most prominent edifices including City Hall, and buildings on the Rose State College campus.
“Midwest City has upgraded the quality of life for its residents with improved parks, shopping and medical facilities. The dog park continues with that effort, bettering the community with a strong asset,” says Quinn, who is extremely honored and pleased to have the park named after him.
Happy Tails will be fully equipped with separate areas for small and large dogs, an enclosed wading pool, watering fountains and rinsing station to clean your pup before leaving the park. Waste containers and trash cans will be readily accessible to keep the grounds clean and environmentally conscious.
Park construction is currently 75-80% complete and city officials have set a tentative opening date for July 10th, 2012.
