The Midwest City Neighborhoods in Action office is home to the City's Weed and Seed Program. This program allows the city to offer needed services for community residents living in a specific targeted five square mile area that includes NE 10th Street and NW 23rd Street from Air Depot to Post Road; the area between NE 10th Street and SE 15th Street from Midwest Boulevard to Douglas Blvd.
The program is funded through a grant from the US Department of Justice, Community Capacity Development Office.
Weed refers to law enforcement and community policing. Seed refers to prevention, intervention, treatment and neighborhood restoration.
Current programming includes:
- Free homework assistance tutoring each Tuesday and Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. -
- Free GED testing each Monday and Wednesday, from 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Free immunizations (flu, tetanus, pneumonia, etc.) each 3rd Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, free income tax preparation during tax season: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
