Mayor Matt Dukes is asking faith-based organizations and civic groups to come together to help those in the community who are in need of assistance.
"Every year we become aware of residents who, due to a number of reasons, are unable to do routine maintenance on their homes and yards. The needs can be simply mowing the grass or minor painting or fence repair," said Mayor Dukes. The reasons these members of the community are struggling could be physical (such as the elderly or disabled) or financial limitations.
The Mayor is asking groups to come together with other organizations in the community to assist these residents on a rotational basis. Neighborhood Services will vet the recipients of the assistance before they are placed on a list to receive help.
The City will be holding an organizational meeting at the Charles Johnson Building, 8726 SE 15th, on Saturday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Those with questions, can call the Mayor's office at 739-1209 or the Neighborhood Services Office at 739-1005.
