The City of Midwest City was one of the recipients of the 2019 Governor's Disability Employment Awards of Excellence. The awards were presented by Governor Kevin Stitt at a ceremony in the Phillips Pavilion at the Governor's Mansion today. City Manager Tim Lyon and Human Resources Director Troy Bradley accepted the award on behalf of the City.
The City was nominated for the award by Carol Judd, Executive Director of Mid-Del Group Homes, for hiring persons with disabilities and helping them to succeed.
The awards are given each year to outstanding employees with disabilities, to businesses that hire persons with disabilities, and to members of the media or media organizations that publicize these work programs.
This was the 34th year for the Governor's Disability Employment Awards of Excellence to be presented. The awards are sponsored by the Office of the Governor, Oklahoma Department of Human Services Developmental Disabilities Services, Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, and the Oklahoma Association of People Supporting Employment First.
