COMMUNITY GRANT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM


Applications for the Community Improvement Grant Program, formerly the Midwest City Memorial Hospital Authority Grant Program, are now available. Applications are open to any entity or individual working to improve the quality of life in Midwest City through programs that address the diverse issues and opportunities facing the community.

Since 1998, more than 294 grants have been given, totaling over $7 million of investments into improving the community.

Information and applications are available on the city's website or by calling 739-1204. Grant awards will be announced in late February 2019.

FEMA & FCC TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY ALERT TESTS


On September 20, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide combined test of the Wireless Emergency Alert and Emergency Alert System. (The backup date for the tests is October 3.)  The test is scheduled for 1:18 p.m. Central Daylight Time (CDT) for wireless capable devices. Immediately following at 1:20 p.m. CDT, FEMA will conduct a live test of the Emergency Alert System.

CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY


Put down the misconception; step away from the stereotype.This academy shows what the Midwest City Police Department is really like!

Applications are now being accepted for the 42nd annual Citizen Police Academy program that starts September 20. The 12 week program meets on Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to approximately 9 p.m. It is open to anyone at least 21 years old who lives or works in Midwest City, including Tinker Air Force Base.

COPS ON DOUGHNUT SHOPS


Stop by the Dunkin' Donuts location at 2301 S. Douglas Blvd between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 15. Our MWC Police Officers will be there along with Special Olympic athletes to hare information and take donations benefiting Special Olympics Oklahoma.

SAVE THE DATE FOR THE VETERANS DAY PARADE


Save the date and plan to join us for the Midwest City Veterans Day Parade on Monday, November 12. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and the route begins at Century Blvd. and S.E. 15th Street. As it becomes available, more information will be available on our website.
