DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. PRAYER BREAKFAST, JANUARY 21

The 22nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast is Monday, January 21 at the Reed Conference Center at the Sheraton Hotel, 5750 Will Rogers Rd.

The theme this year is "The March Continues" and the keynote speaker is Senator George Young, District 48. You can buy tickets at the Nick Harroz Community Center for $20 each. The doors will open at 6:30 a.m., the breakfast starts at 7 a.m. and the program starts at 8 a.m.

NEW COUNCIL MEETING TIMES

Starting with the first council meeting of the year on January 8, the City Council will be meeting at 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. The meetings continue to be on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month in the Council Chambers at 100 N. Midwest Blvd.

If you are not able to attend, the meetings are aired live on Cox Channel 20 for those who have Cox Cable. Archives of the meetings are available on the City of Midwest City YouTube Channel.

SPRING SPORTS REGISTRATION

SOCCER CLUB
Youth and adult spring registration for the MWC Soccer Club is underway and runs through February 3. Games start March 2. You can register online or at one of two in-person registrations at Dicks Sporting Goods on Saturday, January 26 or Academy Sports and Outdoors on Saturday, February 2.

LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL/SOFTBALL
The MWC YMCA coordinates the Little League Baseball/Softball program. Registration runs through the end of February and the season begins March 25. The YMCA is located at 2817 N. Woodcrest Ave. The sports information hotline is 733-9622 or you can register online.

VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE (VITA)

IRS-certified volunteers will prepare federal and state income taxes for free starting February 5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Nick Harroz Community Center, 200 N. Midwest Blvd. Please note that there is limited capacity and it is on a first come, first served basis. Line numbers will be available at 10 a.m. and official sign in begins at noon.

LIVE CHRISTMAS TREE DROP OFF

You can dispose of your live Christmas tree during the month of January at the Christmas Tree Drop Off on Jim White Dr., on the east side of Fire Station No. 6 which is at 8750 SE 15th St.

The trees will be chipped and used for compost material so it is very important that you remove all ornaments, ornament hangers, lights and decorations.

WARREN THEATER PROGRESS

Construction continues at the new, luxurious MWC Warren Theatre. It will include adult balconies and will feature upscale finishes including granite, marble, hand-painted murals, LED lighting and terrazzo floors. The theater is under construction in the Sooner Rose Shopping Center at SE 15th and Sooner Road. It is expected to be completed in late spring 2019.

ANDY'S ALTITUDE 1291

A groundbreaking is expected for Andy's Altitude 1291 this winter with the grand opening in the summer. Andy's Altitude is a 26,000 sq-foot entertainment complex that will be on the east side of the Sooner Rose Shopping Center at SE 15 and Sooner Road. The indoor complex will have an aviation theme and will feature bowling, bumper cars, laser tag, a restaurant, midway-style games and virtual reality experiences.
