RESIDENTS CAN NOW USE THE EAST OAK LANDFILL

In addition to use of the Midwest City transfer station (dump), you can now deliver and dispose of solid waste (trash and debris) at the East Oak Landfill located at 3201 Mosley Rd in Oklahoma City. You will be charged the City's discounted rate depending on the size of your load.

  • A car or pick up is charged $25 per load
  • A vehicle with a trailer (maximum of 16 feet) is charged $50 per load.

Make sure to take a copy of your MWC utility bill and your driver's license that matches the address information on the bill to prove your residency and get the lowest fees.

The facility accepts non-hazardous residential solid waste, organic waste, and construction or demolition debris. More information

RENO SWIM & SLIDE EARLY BIRD PASSES AVAILABLE MARCH 1

You can get early bird passes to the Reno Swim and Slide starting March 1. The passes will be available through May 11 at the Nick Harroz Community Center during regular business hours. Passes are $35 each.

Opening day is Saturday, May 25.

LITTLE LEAGUE REGISTRATION

The MWC YMCA coordinates the Little League Baseball/Softball program. Registration runs through the end of February and the season begins March 25.

The YMCA is located at 2817 N. Woodcrest Ave. The sports information hotline is 733-9622 or you can register online.

VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE (VITA)

IRS-certified volunteers are preparing federal and state income taxes for free through April 11 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Nick Harroz Community Center, 200 N. Midwest Blvd. Please note that there is limited capacity and it is on a first come, first served basis. Official sign in begins at noon; line numbers are available at 10 a.m. The community center is at 200 N. Midwest Blvd.

Make sure to bring your photo ID, Individual Taxpayer Identification Number or Social Security Number, your wage and earnings statements, and copies of your last year's federal and state returns. You will also need birth dates for yourself, your spouse and any dependents.

This program is sponsored by the City of Midwest City Neighborhoods in Action and the Grants Management Office.

GET CONNECTED WITH 2-1-1

If you are struggling or need assistance with with mental health or addictions, adult education, transportation, food, bereavement support groups, or family support you can call 2-1-1. Professionally trained specialists are just a phone call away to help. 2-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, every day, and is a free and confidential call. Translation services are also available.

HOMELESS OUTREACH TEAM

Our Midwest City Police Department has established a Homeless Outreach Team. The program is designed to ensure that we remain sensitive to the unique needs of the homeless populations while responding to the needs and concerns of our residents and the greater community. This team specializes in building relationships with the homeless community and metro area service providers. They works with individuals by connecting them with valuable social services in hopes of improving their living conditions thereby improving public safety.

If you encounter a homeless person who you think could benefit from this assistance, you can call the dispatch non-emergency number, which is 732-2266.

POLICE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES AWARD OF ACCREDITATION

The Midwest City Police Department recently received notification of the Award of Accreditation from the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police, Oklahoma Law Enforcement Accreditation Program.

In 2002, our police department became only the fourth department in the state to achieve accreditation status. We recently received our sixth re-accreditation.

The accreditation process assures you, our residents, that your police department conforms to current professional standards and best practices.

Sat., April 13 - Covered in Color at the Charles J. Johnson Central Park in Town Center Plaza from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event includes an arts and crafts festival and a sidewalk chalk art competition plus live entertainment, food trucks, and a children's area. Free admission and free parking!


Third Saturdays, April - October - Cruise in for Coffee in the parking area of the Santa Fe Cattle Company from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Free coffee while you browse the vehicles that participate in this car show.
