Siren installation

Ten new outdoor warning sirens are being installed this week in the same locations as the previous sirens. The new sirens are better technology and have improved capabilities. They are omnidirectional so they sound in all directions at the same time - this makes the sound of the sirens different from the previous ones. You can hear the new sirens when they are tested on the first and third Saturday of the month at noon.

Just a reminder that outdoor warning sirens are intended to warn you when you are outdoors and are not intended to be heard indoors. For indoor warning, be sure you have an NOAA Weather Alert Radio or an NOAA app for your smart phone.

The bond project approved by voters last August is moving forward. After entering into an agreement with Selser Schaefer Architects of Tulsa, we anticipate renderings for the new facility to be completed the end of September. Once the design is complete, we will start the bid process with construction to begin in 2020. Thank you to the voters, and to the members of the Animal Welfare Subcommittee - Dr. Acree, Jana Beller and Council members Susan Eads, Pat Byrne, and Sean Reed.

In the meantime, we have wonderful animals available for adoption now at our current Animal Welfare Center, 7221 NE 36th.

We are in Oklahoma's season of severe weather. Don't forget to plan for your pet's safety. Here are some tips from the American Red Cross.

Ourdoor Warning Siren Installation

This week is the 20th anniversary of the most costly tornado to ever hit our state. In Midwest City, we lost homes, businesses and four of our residents perished.

We created a informational video to take a look back at how the community was impacted, how we responded and how we've recovered.

Warren Theater before and after

Key Construction Company continues work on the Midwest City Warren Theatre, however 80 days of inclement weather caused unanticipated delays. We expect hiring announcements with a month with a grand opening sometime around the July 1. Robert Coleman, Director of Economic Development, has monitored progress since construction started last year and promises "it will be worth the wait!"
