City View E-newsletter April 2017

The new Midwest City Warren Theatre opened last month. The new movie cinema features 10 auditoriums - six single level and four with balconies. The theatre seats 1004 and all of the seats are heated recliners. All 10 screen are curved and there are two grand auditoriums with very large, curved screens.

The theatre has custom-painted portraits of movie stars throughout the first floor hallways as well as murals from nationally-acclaimed illustrator Dave LaFleur. There is also a custom art piece in the lobby. The carpet is from one of the nation's oldest carpet mills and the pattern was resurrected from theater archives of the 30's.

The MWC Warren is the first theater in our city since 2009. It's located at SE 15th and Sooner Road in the Sooner Rose Shopping and Entertainment Center.

Backyard Swimming Pool

Did you know that the Environmental Protection Agency and the Oklahoma State Department of Health classify the discharge of swimming pool water as "wastewater?" That's because chlorine, bromine, salt, and other pool chemicals can kill fish and other aquatic life in our streams.

There are two ways that are allowed for draining your swimming pool wastewater. You can connect the discharge line to the sanitary sewer, which requires a licensed plumber and a permit. Or you can drain the water onto your property as long as it stays on your property and doesn't come within 50 feet of a water well.  Either way you will want to let the pool water sit for a couple of weeks so it has time to dechlorinate before you drain it. If you need more information, contact Stormwater Quality at 739-1046.
