Correction to Story in May 5, 2021 Edition of the Midwest City Beacon

The City of Midwest City is aware of a story printed in the May 5, 2021 edition of the Midwest City Beacon regarding a replatting request by Habitat for Humanity at the April 27 City Council meeting. It was incorrectly stated in the story that the request to replat a 1.51 acre area near NE 5th St. and Oakview Dr. was denied by the Council. Staff of the Midwest City Beacon plans to print a retraction of this story in next week's edition and they have already edited online versions of the story reflecting the appropriate changes.

To clarify, the replatting of this property was approved by the Council without certain waivers requested by the applicant. These waivers would have meant that some improvements along the streets abutting the project would not have been the responsibility of the applicant. These improvements included curb and gutter for the abutting streets, referred to as half street improvements.

The Council voted unanimously to approve the replatting request for the project, without the requested waivers.

We appreciate the staff of the Midwest City Beacon for making the appropriate corrections to this story.
