Mayor and Councilmembers to be Sworn In at Special City Council Meeting April 5
Matt Dukes, Susan Eads, Megan Bain and Sara Bana will all be sworn in at a special meeting of the City Council for Midwest City on Tuesday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the City Council Chamber at 100 N. Midwest Blvd. The meeting will also be streamed live on the City’s YouTube channel.
Mayor Matt Dukes and Councilmembers-elect Megan Bain (Ward 3) and Sara Bana (Ward 5) earned a majority vote in each of their elections on February 8 of this year, eliminating the need for a run-off election in each of the races. Councilmember Susan Eads ran unopposed for the Ward 1 seat.
After being sworn in, Dukes will start his seventh year as Mayor of Midwest City. He was elected to a partial term in 2016 and was re-elected in 2018.
Susan Eads will be serving her second term as the Ward 1 Councilmember. She was elected to her first term in 2018 after being appointed to fill an unexpired term in 2017.
Megan Bain and Sara Bana will be serving their first terms as Councilmembers of Wards 3 and 5 respectively. They will officially take office on April 18.
The next municipal election in Midwest City is expected in 2024. That election would be for Wards 2, 4 and 6. The filing period for the election will be set and announced by the city council next year.
