MWC Encourages Community to “Fly Our Flag” in Honor of Veterans
The City of Midwest City and the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce encourage residents and businesses to fly the American flag the week of Veterans Day to honor the community’s veterans.
“We are asking our residents to fly our flag the week of November 8 through the 14 in honor of the men and women who have bravely served our country in every branch of the military,” said Mayor Matt Dukes. “As a sign of our appreciation, we want to cover our city in red, white and blue.”
Bonnie Cheatwood, Executive Director of the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce is encouraging businesses to participate as well. “We would love to see every business in our city flying our flag during the week of Veterans Day,” Cheatwood said. “If any of our businesses does not have one, they can come by the Chamber at 5905 Prosper Boulevard during our normal business hours to pick up a free flag to fly.”
“Midwest City is a very patriotic community that supports our military and honors our veterans,” said Dukes. “This is one way for us to show our respect and support.”
Residents and businesses are encouraged to take a photo of their flag and post it on social media with the hashtag “FlyOurFlagMWC.”
