February 8, 2022 Municipal Election Results

When the polls closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday night, voters in Midwest City had once again determined who would represent them as mayor and as councilmembers in Wards 3 and 5. The unofficial results show Matt Dukes was reelected Mayor of Midwest City, Megan Bain was elected Councilmember for Ward 3 and Sara Bana was elected Councilmember for Ward 5. Because each candidate received more than 50% of the votes, run-off elections will not be necessary.

No election was necessary for the Ward 1 seat. Councilmember Susan Eads filed unopposed for the position and will be sworn in to her second four-year term on the council. She has already served five years on the council, having been appointed to a partial one-year term in 2017.

The mayoral election this year drew the most candidates, including Bill Bridges, Ren Caldwell, Matt Dukes (Incumbent) and Charles Wallace. Dukes collected 66% of the nearly 3300 votes cast in the race. This will be his second four-year term. He has served for six years as mayor, having been elected to a partial two-year term in 2016.

The Ward 3 council race included AJ Bailey, Megan Bain and Españiola Bowen (Incumbent). Bain garnered nearly 59% of the 650+ votes cast. This will be her first term on the council.

In the race for the Ward 5 council seat, the two candidates included on the ballot were Christine Price Allen (Incumbent) and Sara Bana. Bana received nearly 56% of the 400+ votes cast. This will also be her first term as a councilmember.

Dukes, Bain and Bana, with Councilmember Susan Eads, will be sworn in two months from now at an April meeting of the City Council of Midwest City. The Mayor and Councilmembers for Midwest City each serve four-year terms. Elections for Wards 2, 4 and 6 will be held in 2024.
