Midwest City/Choctaw Tornado (4/27/2024) - Update 1
Severe Storms Damage Portions of East Midwest City
On Saturday, April 27, 2024, severe storms left a path of damage in eastern Midwest City from SE 29th St. at Westminster to an area near Reno & Hiwassee Rd. Early reports that came in were of downed power lines and wind damage to trees and structures in the path of the storm.
Midwest City has no reports of injuries related to the storm at this time. City emergency personnel do anticipate finding more debris and damage as assessments are made by public safety personnel on Sunday, April 28.
At the time of this report, public safety personnel believed that around 100 Midwest City customers were without power in the affected area. City leaders reported that no major infrastructure or city services were affected by the storm. More detailed assessments of the damage will be made during the day on Sunday.
For those who have received damage, the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management is asking residents to report it at damage.ok.gov. Reporting damage helps local and state emergency managers better coordinate response and recovery efforts. Residents can report damage to homes, businesses or agriculture through the online survey.
