Midwest City, OK – Honoring a career that has spanned almost 40 years of service to local governments in Oklahoma, City Manager Tim Lyon was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame for City and Town Officials at the 2024 Annual Conference Banquet for the Oklahoma Municipal League (OML). This year’s hall of fame induction ceremony was held at the Cox Convention Center – Tulsa on Thursday, September 12.

Mr. Lyon started his career in municipal service as an administrative assistant with the City of Edmond in 1986. After stints with the Center of Local Government Technology at Oklahoma State University and with the Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma, he joined the leadership team of Midwest City in 2000 as the Human Resources Director. By 2007, Mr. Lyon had been promoted to Assistant City Manager and was then selected as City Manager in 2019 by the City Council of Midwest City. In June of 2024, he surpassed five years in the position.
Throughout his career, Mr. Lyon has provided training and leadership for county and municipal governments. His leadership, work and personal ethics have made his organizations function at a higher level. Mr. Lyon’s initiatives have provided opportunities for individuals and local government organizations statewide to improve how they provide services to their citizens.
Locally, his contributions have earned Midwest City an Oklahoma Governor’s Disability Employment Award and 2013 National Installation of the Year–Tinker Air Force Base, awarded by the Association of Defense Communities. He has also been awarded by the City Managers Association of Oklahoma, the Central Oklahoma Clean Cities Coalition, Tinker Air Force Base and the Public Risk Insurance Management Association.
