Juvenile Probation and Services Division
The Juvenile Division of the City of Midwest City has jurisdiction over all cases that involve those under the age of 18 who have violated the City's non-traffic ordinances.
Juveniles who receive a citation, will be mailed a certified court notice to the address written on the release paperwork. The court notice will have the date, time, location of hearing and plea options. (All juvenile proceedings are closed to the public.)
Please note the following:
A parent or legal guardian (must provide legal documents) is required to appear in court with the juvenile.
At the initial arraignment hearing, the juvenile and parent will appear before the Judge and enter a plea for the offense cited. There are three types of pleas which can be entered:
- Not Guilty - If this plea is entered, the case will be set for trial and a new court date will be given.
- Guilty or No Contest- If one of these pleas is entered, the juvenile and parent/legal guardian will have the option of either paying the fine and have the case dismissed or request probation.
If juvenile and parent/legal guardian choose to pay the fines and fees, full payment is due the day of court. If not able to pay the full amount, must speak with the Judge about a payment plan. An additional fee may be assessed for payment plans.
If the juvenile and parent/legal guardian choose probation, they will receive a letter in the mail with an office visit date and time to be interviewed to determine whether he/she is eligible for probation. Probation consists of a number of requirements in which the juvenile and parent/legal guardian will have to complete within a given time. The juvenile will have constant contact with the Probation Officer via phone and face-to-face. Fines will be reduced (amount will vary case by case), but fees will not ($111 court cost) If successful in completing all court ordered requirements, the case will be dismissed.
Midwest City does not have a detention or holding facility for juveniles. If you are in need of possible placement for your youth, you may contact the Juvenile Office for resources.
Parents * Ordinance 3118 was adopted from the Oklahoma Statute, Title 10A, Section 2-2-103-Personal Jurisdiction specifically subsection D subparagraphs 3 through 4 and subsection F.
