MWC Fire Department Announces Death of Lt. Eddie Ellis

Lieutenant Eddie Ellis

The Midwest City Fire Department announced today the death of Lieutenant Eddie Ellis. Ellis unexpectedly passed away today from complications related to an off-duty accident.

Ellis began his fire career on September 11, 2003, with the Midwest City Fire Department. In 2012, he promoted to the position of Apparatus Operator and worked most of his career on red shift.

Eddie leaves behind his wife Tia and two children, Jacie and Cami. Ellis was a graduate in 1997 from Midwest City High School and was both a football player and wrestler.  He met his future wife Tia in high school and the high school sweethearts married in February 2000.

As a father, Ellis always enjoyed watching his daughters in cheerleading and other sports activities.

When he was away from the fire department, he spent time working as a very talented carpenter. Ellis also enjoyed life through fishing, beaches, outdoors, and being with friends.

"One thing about Eddie is that he was always willing to give a lending at a moment's notice," said Fire Chief Bert Norton.

"Eddie will be greatly missed by his firefighter family and the community he served."
