You may qualify for a free smoke detector if you meet the following guidelines:

• You are a home owner, living in Midwest City; and
• You do not have a working smoke detector, or the detector is over 10 yrs old; and you are:
  • Over the age of 60
  • Classified as disabled
  • Living on a fixed income (such as Social Security)
  • A single parent with small children

To apply for a smoke detector, you may call 405-739-1356 or go to Midwest City Fire Department Headquarters located at 8201 East Reno Avenue. Our hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. We will also replace batteries for those who cannot afford one, or are not physically able to change their own. We do not provide smoke detectors for in-home day care facilities.
