Power Outages
Sometimes Power Outages Follow Severe Weather Events
We understand this can be an inconvenience for you. The best way to report a power outage, and keep track of power restoration efforts, is to visit the OG&E System Watch page at Outage Map
Please do not call 911 to ask when the power will be back on. We don’t have any more information than is available on System Watch.
If your power is out, report it. Don’t assume that an outage on or near your area means that your home or business is included.
Make sure your household is prepared for power outages:
- Install carbon monoxide detectors with battery backup.
- Having a generator is the best option, just be sure to use it safely (outdoors and away from windows).
- Do not use a gas stove to heat your home.
- Turn off or disconnect appliances and electronics since power may return with momentary surges and spikes.
- If you use medical equipment that is powered by electricity, talk to your medical provider about options for when the power is out.
Have these items on hand before the power goes out:
- Solar phone chargers
- Solar garden lights work great as substitutes for candles
- Headlamps are much more convenient to use than flashlights
If you keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed, food in the fridge should be safe for 4 hours, 24-48 hours in the freezer. This depends on how full the freezer is. The fuller the freezer, the fresher the food stays. When in doubt, Throw It Out!!!
