Vehicle Impounds
When a vehicle is impounded under Midwest City Ordinance (MCO) 24-44, and the driver is charged with:
- Driving Under the Influence
- Driving under Suspension
- No State Drivers License, Reckless Driving
- Careless Driving
- Driving while Impaired
- Eluding an Officer or Duty to give information or render aid or otherwise involved in a hit and run collision
A $150 impound fee (exact cash only) reference (MCO) 24-47 shall apply and is independent of any fines, costs or fees which may be assessed from citations issued to any person for violation of traffic laws or other ordinance violations involving the impounded vehicle. Only the registered owner will be given the wrecker release form with the following documents:
- Proof of insurance (vehicle identification number/VIN must match vehicle impounded)
- Proof of ownership: title, registration or bill of sale if vehicle has been purchased less than 30 days
- Photo identification (name must match proof of ownership)
- Proof of current tag by tag agency receipt or physical tag if the vehicle was impounded for expired tag
- Notarized letter signed by the owner and specifically naming the person to pick up the owner's vehicle (if applicable)
- Wrecker Service Companies need: hold harmless letter, fleet insurance and the driver must have a drivers license
Please note: Impounds are released Sunday - Saturday between 6:00am to 11:00pm only.
