Medical Waste and Pharmaceutical Drop-Off
Non-Prescription Medications & Inhalers
The Household Hazardous Waste Facility can receive and dispose of non-prescription medications and inhalers. Please schedule an appointment to drop off these items by calling (405)739-1049.
Needles and Sharps
Needles, syringes, and other sharps must be properly stored in an approved sharps container. Due to safety protocols, the Household Hazardous Waste Facility cannot accept sharps or sharps containers. Please contact the Sanitation Department at (405)739-1066 for more information on the City's Sharps Disposal Program, or to order an approved sharps container.
Prescription Pills
We have all been sick at one time or another and most of us have a prescription or two lying around and don't know of a safe place to dispose of it. Today we know that simply flushing medication down the toilet is not a safe option. Although the water we flush is treated at the City's Water Resources Recovery Facility, many pharmaceuticals are not entirely removed in the process. This means that they can end up back in our drinking water!
