Rain Update:
Despite the large amount of rain this week, the Tinker Inter-Tribal Pow Wow will move forward this year in Joe B. Barnes Regional Park on Saturday, June 11. Because some of the traditional event areas are saturated by this week's storms, visitors should plan for a few changes to the festivities.
Beginning at 12 p.m., the Pow Wow will feature plenty of family-friendly fun, food trucks, and cultural experiences. Vendors and food trucks will be accessible on the parking lot next to Rotary Pavilion and Spirit Playground. The dance circle will take place in the soccer field directly next to Spirit Playground.
Because the plan has changed a bit, and because so much of the park is expected to stay wet through Saturday we’ve put together some tips for families so they can better prepare to celebrate with us:
- Bring lawn chairs instead of blankets
- Park only on constructed parking surfaces
- Don’t forget sunscreen & bug spray
- Do not enter coned or reserved areas
- Have plenty of cold water
- Bring wipes/towels in case of mud
- Bring tents/umbrellas for shade
Though some areas will be reserved, public parking can be found any many locations around the park. This includes Happy Tails Dog Park/Joe B. Barnes pavilion on the west and Reno Swim & Slide on the east. Accessible Parking will be available north of Doug Hunt Softball Complex on Reno Ave.
This is an open invitation to all Princesses and veteran organizations! Don't forget to bring your chairs and blankets to enjoy the show!
